Welcome Baby! is a happy blend of info, discussion, and play for expectant parents and parents of newborns and infants up to 9 mos. old. This program encourages parents to learn about resources, birthing options, parenting skills and to build relationships and offer support to one another. This group is similar to a play group, but will offer a much richer experience through the use of professionally trained facilitators with knowledge of child development and community resources. Each group will be led by volunteer facilitators, including a peer parent from the neighborhood and a nurse or other professional with health-related experience because of the volume of health-related questions and concerns raised by expectant and new parents.  Help us Welcome your Baby into the world with this relaxed and nurturing program.

It’s Summer! It’s Fun! This playgroup is for families who have found the interest to join an afternoon playgroup, as other playgroups don’t fit into their morning or weekend routines.  This playgroup is a great place to meet in the summer on days when it’s too warm in the afternoons to be outside or if your child attends a morning preschool program.  Your child will receive juice and snack and parents can drink coffee in our playful and enjoyable environment.  Slide down our big yellow slide or cook something up in our play kitchen.  Don’t miss out on the fun!

Hey new parents! Are you looking for a way to improve those baby blues, get outside with baby, meet new parents and improve your health and stamina? Join our Stroller class as we take our neighborhood by storm. Exercise is an important part of keeping up with your child(ren), maintaining your mental health and getting back that pre-pregnancy shape for both moms and dads. Each week we’ll walk the neighborhood adding on additional exercises each week. We’ll end each class at either a park or a group approved meeting place. In inclement weather, class will be held indoors at the Bay View Community Center and families will have free access to the family playgroup “Family Time”. Please note a BVCC Adult Medical Form will be required for each adult exercising. Forms can be obtained at the BVCC Front Desk. No doctor signature is necessary.

This playgroup is a real treat for the family who needs a little break before the weekend!  This Thursday group is a great way for you and your family to have playtime with other area parents.  Each week bring your child to our play facility and enjoy playing with our toys, sliding down our slide, and socializing with other families.  At each playgroup, snack and juice is provided for the children and we offer parents a cup of coffee while playing with your child.  Register today!

“The swish of the wind and the lapping of waves as you speed across Lake Michigan.  The water gently sprays in your face.”  Do you love the water?  Have you ever wanted to try sailing on Lake Michigan? Today we will sail within the breakwaters of the Harbor and soak up some rays. Your family will enjoy 1-2 hrs of sailing with trained sailors from the Milwaukee Community Sailing Center.  Life jackets are provided, however, families may bring their own as long as they are Coast Guard approved. This will be a program you and your child will remember forever.  There are limited openings so due to the popularity of this trip register early!  Bring your camera along for captivating photos.  Sign-up today!

It’s a potty party and you’re invited! This class provides a fun way to introduce the concept of potty training within an entertaining and interactive class. Children will learn potty time signs, sing songs and hear stories about using the potty. There will be information for parents about the Baby Signs® Potty Training Program with ideas for starting and staying motivated with potty training. Meet other families while discovering easy ways to make the most of your child’s earliest years, all in the context of delightful games, songs and activities. Delivered by our On the Grow™ Educator, Char Haas.

Fall is in the air and winter’s not far behind!  Come warm-up in our wonderful playroom and stay to play!  Slide down our big yellow slide, dress-up like a fireman, become a world class chef in our play kitchen and enjoy the socialization skills your child will learn with exposure to other children.  You will enjoy relaxed conversation with other parents who are experiencing similar development stages with their child as you.  Stop in and register, play, enjoy snack and juice (coffee for parents), and relax this morning as you grow with your child through time together.

 We’ve enjoyed a nice summer and fall is quickly approaching!  Join us as we enjoy the change in season together.  Our playgroup offers your family the opportunity to play together in a friendly environment.  Meet new families and encourage your child’s socialization skills by meeting and interacting with other children as well as development of their fine & gross motor skills through play.  Our room offers a large play area, slide, lots of toys and snack and juice for the kids.  Parents are welcome to have a cup of coffee while they play and interact with their children and other parents.  See you soon!

 Would you like a new way to bond with your baby? Come with baby to meet other moms and dads and to learn about the wonderful benefits of infant massage. Research on the benefits of infant massage includes: stimulation of appetite and digestion, restful sleeping, stimulation circulation and more. Please bring a blanket to class for your infant. Any additional supplies will be provided by the instructor Mary Simmons. Mary is a WI certified massage therapist with additional certification in infant massage through the international Living Touch Foundation. If a caregiver is bringing baby to class, please contact Kimberly regarding additional paperwork required.

 Join the Bay View Community Center in an evening celebrating goodwill towards one another. Relax on this evening before the hoopla of the holidays begins full pace. This evening will be quiet with Christmas carols playing quietly in the background, a warm meal, and an appearance by Santa for those whom Santa still holds special. All children will receive a small gift and a little bag of goodies from Santa. After dinner each child will have the opportunity to make or decorate an ornament for your family Christmas Tree. Take time out for a special evening with your family and join us in our celebration of peace, compassion and thankfulness for the gifts in our lives. Cameras are welcome for capturing these precious memories.
