We’re going to the Kickapoo Valley…Amish Country. We’ll learn about the Amish in a Guided Tour, eat a“Fresh from the Garden” Farm Supper and visit shops and farms of the Amish. We’re going on a Friday because there are many, many goods in the Amish bakeries and stores (they bake and cook for the 3-day weekend).

Our day begins with FREE PARKING and 7:45am BREAKFAST BUFFT at the Center. At 8:15am our COACH BUS (restroom on board) leaves for the JUSTIN TRAILS RESORT in Sparta. At 11am we arrive with a MEET’N GREET by owners Don and Donna Justin who conduct a GUIDED TOUR including the history of the English Gardens, the organic Hmong vegetable beds, handcrafted log Cabins on site and stories of the area. We’ll visit with Dusty and Rusty, the farm llamas on our way to the Barn for our FARM SUPPER (prepared with food items grown right here on the farm): GAZPACHO (cold soup of fresh veggies in a tomato base broth); GARDEN SALAD featuring farm vegetables with choice of DRESSINGS; the traditional family recipe of CHICKEN WILD RICE CASSEROLE; for dessert Donna’s famous family recipe for CHOCOLATE BROWNIES and fresh made FARMER’S LEMONADE or COFFEE.

Before we go there’s time to try a Kickapoo favorite – Disc Golf – a combination Frisbee and golf game. Then it’s time to hop the BUS and head for DOWN A COUNTRY ROAD – the farm of Kathy and Chuck Kuderer near Cashton. Kathy is our Guide and will greet us and welcome us to Amish Country. We’ll start with SHOPPING at the Amish Shops including Emma’s Kitchen w/noodles, jams, honey, bakery, candies; The Old Newery – home décor and gifts; Not So Plain and Simple jewelry, scarves, lotions; The Amish Shop – furniture, specialty foods, crafts; Kinner Korner – everything for kids; The Country Corner Ice Cream Shop and The Little Red Shed – crafts, soaps, gifts.

Back on the BUS Kathy takes us on a GUIDED TOUR including the history of the Amish dating back to the 1500s and how they have survived and thrived in today’s modern world. Hear about the many traditions and customs including their dress, their courtship and marriage practices, what the Amish church service is and the customs at an Amish funeral.

At 4:30pm we leave with TREAT BAG & BEVERAGE (1each/person) and RAFFLE PRIZES. We’ll have a REST STOP before we head home arriving in Milwaukee at 8pm. (This is a one-of-a- kind trip not offered by other travel providers.)
