STEP UP YOUR MEXICAN COOKING

February 7 • Wednesday, 6:30-9pm

Facilitator: Kay Mackay

Cost: $18.00

Registration Deadline: January 31

Everyone knows how to make at home simple Mexican (actually they are Tex-Mex dishes) — tacos, nachos and quesadillas. These dishes are also as common on Mexican restaurant menus as spaghetti and meatballs is on an Italian restaurant menu. Want to try them? Then this program is for YOU! Kay has some authentic Mexican dishes from various regions of Mexico that are so different including a mole (sauce) and cake (instead of churros – fried dough). Kay prepares for you to taste (recipes in HANDOUTS): Oaxacan Chicken (marinated chicken that’s absolutely delicious): Chicken or Pork Mole (Mexican barbeque sauce); Jicama-Orange-Avocado Salad (jicama is like a sweet potato); New Mexican Rice and Tres Leche Cake (traditional “3 milk” cake with a twist). We’ll add some Mexican Beer, Tequila or Mescal, snacks to enjoy before and during class, coffee, herbal teas and raffle prizes. These dishes are “company” worthy and your family will love them.
