Remember when you used to gather around the radio and listen to the sounds of the Big Bands featuring Benny Goodman, Louis Armstrong and Glenn Miller? Join us as we re-create those radio shows while enjoying a delicious dinner, visiting a homemade candy store and shopping at a popular cheese shop. The day begins with 7:30am FREE PARKING and BREAKFAST BUFFET at the Center. At 8am our COACH BUS (restroom on board) leaves for DANNY’S HOMEMADE CANDIES in Joliet, Illinois arriving at 10am.

The 2nd longest running business in Joliet opened its doors in 1919. Today the Nelson Family has 5 of 6 sisters working side by side to bring you some of the fnest candy and chocolates made from fresh ingredients and real chocolate. The store is full of chocolates, hard candy and their special black walnut caramels. There are BOXES on the BUS for your purchases (optional). At 10:45am we leave for the JACOB HENRY MANSION ESTATE. It took 3 years and a team of German craftsmen to create the home of the Railroad magnate that opened in 1873. We arrive at 11am with time to take a SELF-GUIDED TOUR of the 40-room mansion before meeting at the Dining Room for DINNER (Please choose your entrée at time of Registration): 1) Jake’s POT ROAST or 2) Chef Special CHICKEN CORDON BLEU both served with Chef’s Choice of Starch and Steamed Vegetables, Fresh Garden Salad & Dressings, Warm Homemade Rolls & Whipped Butter, Coffee, Tea, Ice Water and a Special Dessert of Homemade Warm Apple Pie A La Mode. A Cash bar for all kinds of beverages avail- able (not included in cost of the Trip). Special dietary needs and vegetarian selection available. Call B. Marie at 414-482-1000 for details.

At 1pm it’s Showtime. Take a step back in time as the Victorian Ballroom is transformed into The Limestone Lounge, a 1930’s Jazz Club. Today we re-live the glorious Swing Era with a “Live” broadcast radio show performed by The Alan Gresik Swing Shift Orchestra accompanied by radio actors and vocalists. This 15-member group brings to life the sounds of the Swing Era.

At 2:45pm we leave for MARS CHEESE CASTLE in Kenosha arriving at 4:15pm. This landmark cheese store is now a real castle drawbridge and all. But the cheeses, meats, bakery and souvenirs are the same. There’s a large selection of packaged goods, too and Packer/Badger/Brewer/Buck/WI items.

At 5pm we leave with TREAT BAG +BEVERAGE (1 each/person) and RAFFLE PRIZES arriving in Milwaukee at 5:45pm. (We’re the ONLY Trip provider offering this trip and it’s at a very reasonable price with lots of extras to give you more for your Trip Dollars.)
