In this workshop we will be using a chemical, ferric chloride, to etch a piece of copper. The copper will be drawn or stamped in a pattern of your choosing and placed in the solution to etch the design into the metal. After it is removed from the solution we will clean the metal, darken it to give the pattern depth and form it into a shape adding embellishment. While not toxic in the usual sense, the solution stains clothes and hands. Please wear a work shirt or apron that if stained will not be a problem. All materials are supplied, copper, stamps and markers, ferric chloride, tools, wire and pearls. Those with breathing issues or skin sensitivity are encouraged to wear gloves or a mask.
