BVCC is now offering Parent Café sessions through the Family Resource Center! Parent Cafés allow parents and caregivers to gather and share their stories, experiences, worries, fears, successes, and wisdom without judgement.
Parent Cafés are physically and emotionally safe spaces where people talk and listen to each other on topics that matter to them, such as the challenges and victories of raising a family, navigating landscapes of inequality, enhancing well-being, or being involved in the recovery process of someone they love. Through individual deep self-reflection and peer-to-peer learning, participants explore their strengths, learn about the Protective Factors, and create strategies from their own wisdom and experiences. Participants leave Parent Cafés feeling inspired, energized, and excited to put into practice what they’ve learned.

This session will be held from 10:00am-12:30pm at Grace Presbyterian Church: 2931 S Kinnickinnic Ave. Milwaukee, WI 53207
Each session focuses on two of the Five Protective Factors for Families.
The 5 Protective Factors is a research-based framework which identifies 5 of the most important aspects proven to minimize Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) by establishing safe and emotionally stable homes. The 5 Protective Factors provide parents the necessary resources and tools to better manage the many stressors of parenthood.
Parents who develop Protective Factors are able to share with their children the same life skills and positive coping techniques, leading to healthier and more confident families.
